Nienke Izurieta is an artist and educator with nearly fifteen years of experience teaching the violin. Nienke continued to perform regularly until university where she shifted her focus from music to visual art.

After graduating from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in 2010, Nienke moved to Paris, France to work and study. After she returned to the USA from Europe, she accepted a job as a Teaching Artist for an El Sistema inspired orchestral music program in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Nienke taught the violin and viola to students as young as the age of 5 in groups that were part of a large youth orchestra.

A skilled improvisor, Nienke has written original music and worked as a session musician in the recording studio. She was awarded several creation grants while in Canada and has collaborated and performed with choreographers, professional dancers and contemporary musicians from all over the world.

For Nienke, music has always been an outlet of creative expression. With a strong foundation in classical music education and the Suzuki method, she takes an intuitive approach to teaching that focuses on what her students need. Her philosophy surrounding music and art is to inspire others to strive for greatness and have fun while doing it.
